What I do for DRR education and how I can contribute to this site
I'm Co-Director of Risk RED, Risk Reduction Education for Disasters. I've led development of a lot of disaster prevention education materials, none of which am I satisfied with, and all of which I think should be in constant evolution and development. I'm especially interested in toys, games, and use of cultural arts. I'm collecting and sharing STORIES, FABLES, HUMOR and PHOTOS and ILLUSTRATIONS that convey disaster prevention lessons. I have a blog that I don't use enough at disasterpreventionpraxis.blogspot.com

Come see our sister/umbrella site (link below) the Coalition for Global School Safety and Disaster Prevention Education with groups on school disaster management, structural safety, and many more.

I really sorry for late reply, I was on holiday since 19th of September and just came back to Banda Aceh yesterday!

Thank you very much for your kindly support to our consortium here in Indonesia by sent information about CDE to our International network. And we also formed an Aceh Disaster Education Forum (ADEF) last June, work together and closely with Education Department of Aceh Province as leading sector to Integrating Disaster Risk Reduction into School Education System. We (ADEF and Education Department of Aceh Province) made a workshop last month, on 15th of September 2008 and now we are on the process to make DRR teaching guideline and teaching material book for elementary school.

I am looking forward to get in contact with Yumei Wang.

DRR Competencies

I'm currently working in the Philippines on various DRR projects with schools and am wondering what DRR competencies have been developed. So many DRR activities are undertaken and that's good. But what are the competencies that these projects/activities are based on? Have some been developed? If so, where would I find them? I'd love to hear from folks, especially about DRR competencies related to schools. Thanks for any help you can give me. Beryl Cheal
