How to Publicize the Importance of e-Learning Involving Disaster Prevention Education

Abstract: The subject of How to Publicize the Importance of e-learning Involving Disaster Prevention Education has main three terms; the e-learning, disaster prevention education and publicizing. The e-learning has the potential to transform the way we learn and to provide accessible, relevant and high-quality learning opportunities so that every user/teacher can achieve their potential. This relies on the education community sharing knowledge and understandings of the effective use of e-learning to extend and enrich educational experiences across the curriculum. Disaster prevention education, is a trans-disciplinary exercise aimed at developing knowledge, skills and values which will empower people of all ages, at all levels, to assume responsibility for building a safer and sustainable future. One crucial aspect of sustainable development is the mitigation of the destructive effects of disasters on people and societies. Education is recognized as an essential element in disaster risk reduction strategies. Publicizing is the business of drawing public attention to goods and services. In order to publicize on line / e-learning disaster prevention education, a well designed publicizing strategy, which is transferable from the world of Sales&Marketing is needed. While designing an online disaster prevention education program, designers should think of and focus on the issue of How to Attract Public to Our Online Training. E-learning Application in Turkey: The Basic Disaster Awareness (BDA) Self Study Distance Learning Training Program was implemented in school population of 50 provinces in Turkey for two years. The cascading training model was applied for dissemination of the BDA training. The BDA e-learning application in Turkey could be adapted and transformed to any type of disaster in any country.

Key words: e-learning, self study, education, disaster prevention education, publicizing.

Welcome on board. I invited Suat Arik.. I wonder if he speaks English. What do you think about sending this invitation out to ALL Formator instructors first - maybe some speak English or will get help... in fact they can form their own group if they want to... we could just set it up so it is ready when they visit??

DRR Competencies

I'm currently working in the Philippines on various DRR projects with schools and am wondering what DRR competencies have been developed. So many DRR activities are undertaken and that's good. But what are the competencies that these projects/activities are based on? Have some been developed? If so, where would I find them? I'd love to hear from folks, especially about DRR competencies related to schools. Thanks for any help you can give me. Beryl Cheal

Get children involved and EDUCATED in drills!

So what's the point of talking about education, drills, planning in schools etc if the students don't know what is expected of them. In most drills that I have see students are relatively passive participants. I have also been running training as part of INSET to teachers and leaders at my school which included table top exercises. I had teachers take on different roles for a variety of likely situations: Lockdown, Bomb Threat and a road traffic accident outside of school. As there is a high vol… Continue
