I am not going as it is too expensive and despite being in Geneva at the moment - I am staying with Marla! But I think you suggestion is an excellent one and I will put an announcement on the home page in one form or other. By the way, have you taken the lightning quiz on the front page? If you haven't I would appreciate it if you took it as I am collecting data on what people know. You are not identified to me or anyone else in anyway and it is quiet good fun! If you can't appear to read parts of any questions, then roll your mouse over the question and it reveals it in its entirety!

Thanks for you support and kind words,

justin

Hi Justin

Thanks for all your efforts and never ending enthusiasm on drr issues.

I was wondering if you or any of the Edu4drr network members will participate in the IDRC Conference next week in Davos, Switzerland. It would be wonderful if we can organise a meeting with those members who will attend IDRC to share our experience and knowledge. I have got two oral presentations on Monday afternoon and Thursday morning.

Cheers

DRR Competencies

I'm currently working in the Philippines on various DRR projects with schools and am wondering what DRR competencies have been developed. So many DRR activities are undertaken and that's good. But what are the competencies that these projects/activities are based on? Have some been developed? If so, where would I find them? I'd love to hear from folks, especially about DRR competencies related to schools. Thanks for any help you can give me. Beryl Cheal

Get children involved and EDUCATED in drills!

So what's the point of talking about education, drills, planning in schools etc if the students don't know what is expected of them. In most drills that I have see students are relatively passive participants. I have also been running training as part of INSET to teachers and leaders at my school which included table top exercises. I had teachers take on different roles for a variety of likely situations: Lockdown, Bomb Threat and a road traffic accident outside of school. As there is a high vol… Continue
