Profile Information

What I do for DRR education and how I can contribute to this site
I have worked in the emergency management field for the past 10 years. Previously as the Education and Marketing Manager for the Wellington Emergency Managment Office. This role focused on the education of emergency management within the community and emergency operations centre training; developing emergency response plans for schools; and practical exercises for schools and businesses. I was the project leader for 'What's the Plan Stan'.
I am now working as a project cordinator for Kestrel Group dealing with Risk & Emergency Managment. With a focus on pandemic planning and emergency response though I am still involved with schools, in the research field.

DRR Competencies

I'm currently working in the Philippines on various DRR projects with schools and am wondering what DRR competencies have been developed. So many DRR activities are undertaken and that's good. But what are the competencies that these projects/activities are based on? Have some been developed? If so, where would I find them? I'd love to hear from folks, especially about DRR competencies related to schools. Thanks for any help you can give me. Beryl Cheal
